Snorkeling at Ningaloo reef
We snorkel every day, sometimes entering the water from the kayaks, and other times from the beach.
On the first day we tie the kayaks to a buoy and snorkel off from them but most days the reef area is close enough to the shoreline to pull our kayaks up onto the sand and swim out from the beach. During our snorkeling trips the group encounters colourful fish, reef sharks, octopus and small blue spotted rays.
We visit a range of snorkeling sites including Turquoise Bay ( which takes it’s name from the amazing colour of the water) and Oyster Stacks where shoals of stunning colourful fish shelter under the shelf and turtles and small reef sharks are found just a few metres from the beach. I’ve seen many turtles over the years but none as chilled as the Ningaloo Reef turtles who seem happy to let us swim alongside them for ages.
It’s so amazing that even the most nervous snorkelers find themselves transported into a magical world under the sea.
